We’ve all been in a low vibration at different times in our lives.
When we’re feeling in a rut, depressed, bummed out, even when we’re sick, we are in a low vibration. It’s not a good feeling, and often we’re left wondering when we’ll feel good again.
I’m hoping that this list of activities will help you to learn how to raise your vibration for the next time that you’re really feeling off of your game and not quite like yourself.
How to Raise Your Vibration When Depressed
Most times when it comes to raising your vibration, it’s just a matter of making a shift in your mindset. Then other times, you might need a bit of extra help to really make that shift.
My goal is to have something in this list that can work for anything and anyone. So if one thing isn’t for you, it may be exactly what someone else needs, and hopefully something else on this list will speak to you.
What is Vibration?
You might be wondering to yourself, what exactly is ‘Vibration’ anyways.
Well to put it simply, your vibration is your overall wellbeing. Your vibration is literally what your cells are vibrating at. When you spend time doing something you love, every part of you is in sync.
If you’re doing something that isn’t in your best interest (think drugs and alcohol) then your vibe is lowered because it’s not in your best interest. You might get a high from those, but it’s artificial.
What Does It Mean To Raise Your Vibration?
When you’re raising your vibration, you’re putting yourself into alignment with yourself and what you’re meant to do. You’re not resisting, you’re in the flow. This is also when the Law of Attraction works at its best.
If you want to live a happy and harmonious life, being in a high vibration is key.
High Vibration VS Low Vibration
You can always tell if you’re in a high vibrational state or a low one based on how you feel.
If you’re feeling happy, energized, feeling a sense of purpose etc. then you’re in a high vibrational state.
If you’re feeling sluggish, bummed out, depressed etc. then you’re definitely in a low vibrational state. It really is that easy to tell.
So If you’re feeling like you could use some more happiness and joy in your life, try implementing some of these points in your life to help you raise your vibration.

How to Raise Your Vibration Fast
Listen to a Podcast or Audiobook That You Enjoy
Audiobooks have really gained popularity over the past few years after the introduction of sites like Audible.
Find something that makes you feel good, whether that’s something from the self-help niche, or just a fun fiction book that you can follow along and enjoy.
You can also find some great podcasts to listen to which can be very helpful. Again, you can choose something from the self-help niche, or from any other niche that you would enjoy hearing about.
Take Time to Mediate
When wondering how to raise your frequency, meditation is a great place to begin.
Practice deep breathing and clear your mind of the constant chatter that’s going on and allow yourself to just ‘be’ in the present moment. This is often what people use when they’re feeling low vibes.
Even just dedicating 10 minutes to meditation can help bring you into a higher vibration.
Some people say that meditation doesn’t work for them, and if you’re one of those people that’s fine, hopefully one of the other points in this post will be more helpful for you!
Workout to Raise Your Vibration
Some may roll their eyes at this, but working out is genuinely something that can help raise your vibration quickly and effectively.
If you’re feeling frustrated or angry for example, going for a run or speed walk can be really helpful at clearing that energy.
Choose any workout that works best for you and your fitness level. It doesn’t have to be a huge, complicated gym workout.
Even if you’re just at home, you can search YouTube for some five minute videos to follow along with.
Practice Yoga to Raise Your Vibration
Technically yoga would fit under meditation or working out, but we’re going to give it it’s own category today.
Yoga is known for being amazing at letting go of bad vibrations and overall bad feelings.
Yoga consists of mindful breathing and stretching and this helps the mind and body both calm down which brings you into an overall better state of wellbeing.
Even if you’ve never tried yoga before, there’s no need to feel overwhelmed or intimidated by it (I speak from experience).
Do a search on YouTube for beginner yoga videos and give one a try in your own home and see how you feel after.
Spend Time in Nature
Spending more time in nature is so underrated! Nature is so beautiful and so alive. When you spend time in nature you can’t help but to have some of mother nature’s good vibes rub off on you.
The type of nature doesn’t matter, work with that you’ve got.
If you’re close to the ocean, that’s very healing. If you’re by a forest, that’s also very healing. You can even combine some of the points in the list here and get in a workout in nature by going for a hike if that’s possible in your area.
If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, try taking off your shoes and standing barefoot on the Earth.
Eat Healthy, Natural Foods
The saying “you are what you eat” really says a lot.
How are you expecting to feel great and high vibe if you’re eating nothing but low vibe processed foods that can wreak havoc on your body and mind.
Having an abundance of fake foods in your system is one of the worst things you can do especially if you’re already feeling low vibe.
When you’re choosing to eat high vibrational foods, the best that you can choose are healthy foods straight from the Earth – fruits and veggies!
If you can afford it and if you have it available to you, choosing to go organic with your food choices is also a great way to make sure you’re only bringing the best into your body.
If you can’t get organic for whatever reason though, don’t let that deter you from eating healthy, just make sure you wash your food well to try to avoid ingesting the chemicals that many foods are grown with.
Practicing forgiveness isn’t always something people think of when they’re thinking about how to make themselves feel better, but it really does work.
If you’re holding a grudge or hard feelings against someone, it’s only going to hurt you.
There’s a saying that goes something like this: “holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” The other person isn’t going to be affected by you holding a grudge against them. They likely don’t even think about it or even realize it. But holding a grudge does actually affect you! It brings your vibration waaaaay down!
One thing you can do is sit quietly and think about the person and what they did while deep breathing, and then actively choose to release it, and forgive them. You don’t have to tell them you’ve forgiven them, it’s not about them.
This will help you begin to feel better within yourself by releasing those negative feelings that were taking up space in your energy.
Tidy Your Living and Work Spaces
When you live in a cluttered space, it shows that your mind is also cluttered. You can’t be spending your time in a mess and feel light and free inside of yourself.
Being surrounded by a mess brings you down and when you work in a mess it can also make it hard to concentrate and get anything done.
Tidy up where you live and where you work to help raise your vibration. Whenever you come into a clean space, you can’t help but feel refreshed.
To keep these spaces clean, try tidying one small space each day, then it won’t feel like such a huge thing to do, and you won’t end up with a full mess again.
Practice Positive Thinking
Positive thinking is one of the most important parts when it comes to how to raise your vibration!
If you’re thinking negatively about anything, let alone thinking negatively about yourself, you will never be in a high vibration!
Work on thinking positively about yourself first and foremost. Show yourself love and compassion. After all, we’re all just spirits living a human experience, hopefully doing the best that we can.
Not only is it important to think positively about yourself, it’s extremely important to begin to think positively about things in general in your day to day life.
You may be in a spot of your life that isn’t feeling great for you, but there is always a way to change how you think about things.
These next two points go along with practicing positive thinking. Stop complaining!
Sometimes when you’re unhappy, it can feel great to complain, but what happens when you complain?
You’re putting your focus into what you’re unhappy with and what you don’t want. In terms of the Law of Attraction, you’ll end up attracting more of what you don’t want into your life if that’s what you’re putting your focus into.
Practice Daily Gratitude
You want to start thinking positively and stop complaining as mentioned above.
Well to accomplish that, you want to begin using gratitude!
Be grateful for everything in your life no matter how small. Do you dread paying your bills? Give thanks that you have the money to pay for these bills. Be grateful that you have water to shower with, be thankful you have a phone to keep in contact with friends and family with, give thanks for the food that you get to nourish yourself with.
It just comes down to how you decide to think about the situations in your life.
A good way to add gratitude into your life is when you’re falling asleep, give thanks for the good experiences you had that day.
Some days are better than others obviously, but find the good in every day. Give thanks for the good weather, give thanks for the delicious dinner you made, give thanks for the dollar you found on the ground.
It doesn’t have to be big for you to be thankful.
Take a Relaxing Bath
Sometimes having a bath is the best thing you can do!
Whether you like to spend your bath time just sitting in your own company, or if you like to read or listen to music, do whatever brings you the most joy.
If you like to have some background music on, add some light music as well! I think my vibe lifted just by writing about that!
Create Random Acts of Kindness
When we show kindness to others, it brings us joy and raises our vibration.
Whether that’s helping someone who you can see struggling, or paying a stranger a compliment there are so many ways to spread kindness around.
Plus what you give out, you get in return with the Law of Attraction, so the more kindness you show to others, the more kindness you’ll experience which also will raise your vibration!
Watch a High Vibe TV Show or Movie
Instead of watching a lot of news, or violent and scary things on TV, turn your attention to more positive shows and movies.
Watching a comedy, or a feel good show or movie is a great thing to implement when thinking of how to raise your vibration, especially if you’re having a general ‘off’ day.
Put on something that tickles your funny bone and you should be feeling a lot better by the end!
Drink More Water
You hear this everywhere, but there’s good reason.
Our bodies are made mostly of water, so you need to make sure you’re getting enough. It helps clear out toxins not only from our body, but also from our energy bodies as well.
One way to get really great vibes from your water is to write out a note with positive words on it like “love and gratitude” or something similar, and tape it to the bottom of your cup, bottle or water filter.
The energy of these words gets into your water then into your system as you drink the water. Try it out some time!
Listen to Music That Makes You Feel Good
When you listen to music you love, it can completely change your mood quickly, therefore raising your vibration.
Put on some feel good music and dance around to it to get your vibe raising. It’s best if the music has positive lyrics, but just go by how you feel when you’re listening to the music.
Spend Time with People Who You Feel Good Around
Just like how spending time with negative people brings down your vibe, spending your time with positive people will raise your vibe tremendously!
Spend some time with likeminded, loving friends and family members to help raise your vibration.
Find some groups with similar interests and join in.
Even finding positive people to follow online is great at helping bring good vibes. Be very mindful about how people make you feel and make adjustments accordingly.
Say Positive Affirmations to Yourself
Saying daily positive affirmations to yourself can literally change your life and is something that you should start doing right away.
The best affirmations you can say start with “I am” because you are solidly affirming who and what you are. “I am smart”, “I am loveable” and so on.
Also because this is so powerful, be sure to never say comments about yourself like “I’m so stupid” because that’s not going to be anything positive for you ever.
Visualize How You Want Your Life to Look
Sometimes when you’re feeling down or in a rut, it can be really helpful to spend some time visualizing what you want your life to look like.
Sit and think about what you truly want from life. Feel the feelings as if you already have it.
Maybe spend some time on Pinterest or Google Images searching for pictures that represent you and the life you want to live.
If you’re feeling especially crafty, maybe throw together a vision board to come back to and look at from time to time.
Read a Good Book
Reading can be a great escape when you’re feeling low. Whether you want to read something from the self-help genre, or maybe something fiction, choose what speaks to you and spend some time getting lost in the pages and absorbing the information that you’re reading.
Have a Social Media Detox
Social media can often be filled with a lot of negativity, and can also breed negative feelings such as jealously.
Spending some time away from these websites and apps can do wonders for your overall wellbeing.
Spend a weekend where you log out of the websites and delete the apps from your phone to get some space from the overwhelm of information and other people’s drama. Just spending a day or two away can be great when you’re looking for how to raise your vibration.
Do Something Creative
Creativity is such a powerful thing! It’s a great way to raise your vibration because it uses your imagination to create something. There are so many different things to create.
You can find some fun crafts or DIY projects on Pinterest, create a good meal, make a gift for a loved one, write, take pictures, draw, paint. There are limitless possibilities. Let your creative side take over!
Limit Time with Negative People
This is super important, but also can be quite difficult.
The top five people who we spend time with are the biggest influences on us. If you’re spending time with low vibe people, it’s going to be next to impossible to raise your vibe. Negativity is contagious.
This can be hard if it’s your best friends, or even worse, family. You don’t have to cut people out completely necessarily, but cutting down your time with these people can help you in raising your vibration.
Remember, your vibe attracts your tribe.
Cut Out Smoking, Drugs and Alcohol
When you smoke, drink alcohol, or take any drugs you’re not respecting your body or yourself.
I’m not saying you can never go out and have a drink with friends, but if it’s becoming a habit it’s time to kick it to the curb. The high you get from these activities is artificial, and not at all a high vibe way to live daily life.
Stop Watching Negative TV Shows and Movies
When you spend your time watching tv shows or movies that are negative and violent such as much of the horror genre, you’re lowering your vibration by having yourself bombarded with all of these negative scenes.
Watching the news too much can also have a similar effect. If you can’t live without these things, then at least cut down on them as much as you can.
Spend Time in the Sun
Some people suffer from seasonal depression during the winter months because of the lack of sun.
The sun is so powerful for raising your vibration.
Just notice how dreary you can feel after a few straight days of rain. Go out and take advantage of the sun when you can. Go for a walk, or just sit outside and bask in the warmth. Raise your vibe while raising your vitamin D levels!
Stretch Your Body
Even though yoga was mentioned earlier, if it’s not your cup of tea, you still might want to give stretching a try.
Just spend some time stretching out your limbs while breathing deeply into the stretches.
Breathing and stretching both help to relieve stress, so spending a few minutes of your time on these can help bring good vibes.
If you want a bit of a challenge, try adding in a resistance band.
Use Essential Oils
Essential oils are known for bringing wellbeing.
Luckily since essential oils are gaining in popularity they are easy to find. Grab yourself a cute diffuser and find a scent that brings you joy and unwind as the scent fills the room around you.
Or you could wear lava stone jewelry and place a few drops on and get whiffs of the scent as you carry on with your day.
Take a Nap
Sometimes you’re just having a bad day and the best thing you can do is take a nap or go to bed early.
Just getting some much needed rest can often be the ticket to getting back on track for a high vibe life.
If you feel like you’re just in a random funk that came out of nowhere, try sleeping it off and see how you feel in the morning with a fresh day ahead of you. I

What Lowers Your Vibration
In order to keep your vibration high, you should know what to avoid. There are a number of things that will bring you into a lower vibration, but here are some of the most common ones to try to avoid:
- Negative People
- Processed Foods
- Violent TV shows and movies
- Violent video games
If you can limit your time around these things, you’ll be well on your way to some good vibes.
How to Raise Your Vibration When Depressed
You can definitely use these tips to help yourself with depression. I dealt with depression for years and was able to use these tips in my recovery.
